RhinoGear 11912ABMI RhinoRamps MAX Vehicle Ramp - Pair (16,000lb. GVW Capacity)

The RhinoGear 11912ABMI RhinoRamps MAX is designed for those needing a reliable solution for accessing the underside of vehicles, particularly for maintenance or repairs. With an impressive weight capacity of 16,000 pounds, these ramps are robust enough to handle large vehicles, making them suitable for both personal and professional use. The 17-degree incline is gentle enough for low clearance vehicles, which is a definite plus for users with such cars. Its CoreTRAC non-skid base helps prevent slippage, adding an extra layer of safety during use.

One of the standout features of these ramps is their portability and storage capability. They are structured to nest together, which is great for those with limited storage space. The ramps are made from plastic, which while lightweight, may raise concerns about long-term durability compared to metal options. Users should handle them with care, especially if using with heavier vehicles.

In terms of dimensions, the ramps measure 36 inches in length, 13 inches in width, and 8.5 inches in height, which is reasonable for most vehicles, though the length might limit access to larger trucks or SUVs. The maximum incline can be a bit steep for some users, particularly if not accustomed to using ramps. For those who do regular vehicle maintenance or need to access hard-to-reach areas, these ramps provide a solid solution. Individuals who prioritize extreme durability or are working with very heavy machinery may want to consider alternatives. The RhinoGear ramps offer good value for their intended use, especially for regular car enthusiasts or DIY mechanics looking for a convenient and safe way to work on their vehicles.

Rockland 4 Ton 8000 LBS Solid Steel Car Ramp Set, 35" L x 13" W x 9" H, Heavy Duty Auto Truck Ramps for Oil Change and Car Repair, Ideal for Easy Home Garage Maintenance (Pack of 2)

The Rockland 4 Ton 8000 LBS Solid Steel Car Ramp Set is designed for those who need a reliable tool for car maintenance at home. Its heavy-duty steel construction stands out as a major strength, ensuring durability and the ability to support a significant weight of up to 8000 lbs across both ramps. This means it’s suitable for most vehicles, including cars, SUVs, and pickup trucks, making it a versatile option for DIY auto maintenance. The ramps also have a good lift height of 9 inches, facilitating easy access to the underside for oil changes and repairs.

Portability is another benefit, as the ramps weigh just 33 pounds and feature grooves for easy handling. This makes them convenient to transport and store, whether in your garage or car trunk. Their compact design means they won’t take up much space, which is a plus for those with limited storage.

There are a few drawbacks to consider. While the ramps can accommodate tire widths up to 12.5 inches, they may not fit larger vehicles with wider tires. Additionally, the ramps' steel construction, while strong, may be heavier than plastic alternatives, which could be a factor for some users when moving them around frequently. Lastly, some users may prefer ramps with a more textured surface for enhanced grip, especially in wet conditions, as this can add to safety during use.

MaxxHaul 50515 6" Lift Car Ramp 6,500 Lbs Capacity Per Pair 3,250 Lbs Per Ramp, 2- Pack , Black

The MaxxHaul 50515 car ramps are designed for those who need a reliable solution for vehicle maintenance or repairs, especially if working under the car. With a robust weight capacity of 3,250 lbs per ramp and a total of 6,500 lbs for the pair, these ramps are suitable for most standard vehicles. The 6-1/4 inch lift height makes it convenient for reaching the undercarriage without straining. Constructed from heavy-duty plastic, they provide a solid and sturdy platform, and the ridged surface enhances grip, reducing the risk of slipping when driving on. The rubber stops at the base add an extra layer of safety by preventing any movement while in use.

These ramps should only be used on hard, smooth, and level surfaces, as they are not safe for unstable surfaces like gravel or sand. This limitation might restrict the locations where they can be effectively utilized. Additionally, while they are relatively portable at 20.1 pounds, they are not foldable, which could pose storage challenges for users with limited space.

Weight Capacity
It's much bigger than I anticipated. Heavier too as some said it's quite light. It's relative term I guess. For it to hold the weight, it's inevitable that it comes with some weight. But it's nothing like floor jacks. Much lighter.
Ramp Height
They are great, I have a wide tire car and they work great, good height to get under and strong and sturdy.
Surface Grip
My garage has epoxy coating so it's more slippery than concrete but it didn't slide as I drove cars on it. But you gotta make sure to wedge it against the tires firm and square.
Portability and Storage
While it has not been needed so far, it is nice to be able to remove the back part of the ramp while it is in use for easier access under the car.

Buying Guide for the Best Car Ramps

Choosing the right car ramps is essential for safely lifting your vehicle for maintenance or repairs. The right ramps will provide stability, support, and ease of use, ensuring that you can work on your car without any risk. When selecting car ramps, consider the type of vehicle you have, the weight capacity you need, and the height you want to achieve. Here are some key specifications to help you make an informed decision.
Weight CapacityWeight capacity refers to the maximum weight that the car ramps can support. This is crucial because using ramps that cannot handle your vehicle's weight can lead to accidents or damage. Car ramps typically come with weight capacities ranging from 3,000 to 12,000 pounds. For small cars, a lower capacity (around 3,000 to 5,000 pounds) may suffice, while larger vehicles like trucks or SUVs may require ramps with higher capacities (8,000 to 12,000 pounds). Always check your vehicle's weight and choose ramps that can comfortably support it.
Ramp HeightRamp height is the elevation that the ramps will lift your vehicle off the ground. This is important for providing enough clearance to work underneath the car. Ramp heights can vary from a few inches to over a foot. If you need to perform tasks that require more space, such as changing the oil or working on the exhaust system, higher ramps (10-12 inches) are preferable. For simpler tasks like tire changes, lower ramps (6-8 inches) may be adequate. Consider the type of work you plan to do and choose a height that provides sufficient clearance.
Ramp LengthRamp length affects the angle of incline and the ease with which your vehicle can be driven onto the ramps. Longer ramps provide a gentler incline, making it easier to drive up without scraping the underside of your car. This is particularly important for low-profile vehicles. Ramp lengths can range from 30 inches to over 50 inches. If you have a low-slung sports car, opt for longer ramps to ensure a smooth ascent. For higher clearance vehicles, shorter ramps may be sufficient.
MaterialCar ramps are typically made from plastic, metal, or a combination of both. The material affects the durability, weight, and ease of handling. Plastic ramps are lightweight and easy to move around, but they may not be as durable as metal ramps. Metal ramps, often made from steel or aluminum, are more robust and can handle heavier loads, but they can be heavier and more cumbersome to transport. Consider how often you will use the ramps and the type of vehicle you have when choosing the material. For frequent use and heavier vehicles, metal ramps are a better choice, while plastic ramps are suitable for occasional use and lighter cars.
Surface GripSurface grip refers to the texture and design of the ramp's surface, which helps prevent the vehicle from slipping while driving onto the ramps. Good surface grip is essential for safety, especially in wet or slippery conditions. Look for ramps with a non-slip surface or textured patterns that provide better traction. This feature is particularly important if you live in an area with frequent rain or if you plan to use the ramps on smooth garage floors. Ensure the ramps you choose have a reliable grip to keep your vehicle securely in place.
Portability and StoragePortability and storage refer to how easy it is to move and store the ramps when not in use. Some ramps are designed to be stackable or foldable, making them more convenient to store in small spaces. Lightweight ramps are easier to carry and position, but they should still be sturdy enough to support your vehicle. If you have limited storage space or need to transport the ramps frequently, look for models that offer compact storage solutions and are easy to handle. This will ensure that the ramps are practical and convenient for your needs.
